We're back with a second edition of TGC Presents! I love the idea of our talented makers of comics doing a riff on a specific theme, and for 2025 the topic is classic literature. In addition to novels (all in the public domain), some artists are doing riffs on plays (Shakespeare and Marlowe, anyone?). We've got 8 comics for this anthology, and TGC Presents! 2025 – Riffs on Classic Lit is available for the set price of $7.95.

But we're not stopping there. We're also throwing in a second tier, for $10.95, where you get all 8 comics plus The Reward, a 4 minute and 32 second animation by Jack the Monkey. This animation is not a riff on classic literature but instead a love letter to this humble website, so we thought it would be an appropriate addition to our TGC Presents! 2025 celebration.

So if you want the 8 comics/1 animation bundle, please buy this version on Itch instead!

DOCTOR FAUST
by KrisD (96 single-panel pages)

This is KrisD’s riff on Doctor Faustus, the Elizabethan play be Christopher Marlowe.

Doctor Henry Faust has realized he will never achieve ultimate wisdom or have that perfect moment of happiness, so he is going to end it all... but then the demon Mephisto appears, and suggests he has a solution to Faust's problems.

Some gorgeous renders by KrisD (see the example above), along with a sensitive, sexy retelling of Marlowe's play.

THE PAINTING
by TGTrinity (68 single-panel pages)

TGTrinity has done a riff on The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde.

In this spin on the tale, it seems that Dorian has made a different kind of deal in order to become a hypermasculine stud who beds dozens of women (and fathers 100 children)... but now that time has come to an end and Dorian must fulfill his end of the bargain.

The hypermasculine man will become an ultrafeminine woman... a breathtakingly beautiful, busty blonde. Let's see how she deals with it, shall we?

TGTrinity is having a lot of fun with the source material, and, as usual, created a comic chock full of sexually explicit content.

ARENE LUPIN and the METANOIA'S STATUE
by Aglamau (100 single-panel pages)

Aglamau's riff on the gentleman, thief and master of disguise named Arsène Lupin, who appeared in 17 novels, 39 novellas and numerous short stories by Maurice Leblanc. Lupin was often a force for good while operating on the wrong side of the law.

In this story, Lupin is once again doing battle with his long-time nemesis Herlock Sholmes. A statue is offered as bait, but in this battle of wits and cunning, who will gain the upper hand? And who will be transformed?

Aglamau does a fun take on the original character, and if you don't know Arsène Lupin, you might be a fan after reading this comic!

DRACULA
by Squidz (91 multi-panel pages)

Squidz is taking on the classis horror novel Dracula by Bram Stoker.

In Squidz' version of the story, Jonathan Harker is working for Count Dracula and has been spirited away to his castle. Harker fears the count intends to do him in. Why else would he have him write a series of letters to his love Nina, falsely claiming that he is heading home to London? But Dracula isn't going to dispose of Mr. Harker... he has a very different role in mind for the young man!

This is a disturbing tale of corruption and horror. And I will warn people that we will see some of these characters again in other comics from Squidz, as part of her Backers Program.

FREE BUSTY FIERCE
by Teysia (44 single-panel pages)

Teysia has done a riff on the character of D'Artagnan, the swashbuckling hero of The Three Musketeers and other novels by Alexandre Dumas.

In Teysia's take on the character, D'Artagnan is eager to join the royal guard, and runs into Milady de Winter. She offers him a way to have a significant edge over the other guardsmen.

I think this glimpse into D'Artagnon's life will leave you wanting more... and that's never a bad thing!

THE INVISIBLE MAN
by CarJim & Femur (50 mostly multi-panel pages)

CarJim & Femur have cooked up a riff on The Invisible Man, the novel by H.G. Wells.

A man staggers into the Coach and Horses tavern in the midst of a snowstorm. Charles Griffin's face is entirely covered in bandages, and he has come to the village of Iping for solitude, so he can continue his experiments. The man works day after the day in the quest of... something. His landlady Mrs. Hall and the other townspeople can't stop wondering about what this strange man is up to.

He works fiendishly hard on some days, and broods for hours on others. He has no communication with the world beyond the village. Some think he's an anarchist in disguise, perhaps preparing explosives.

Will the mystery ever be solved? What will the answer be?

CarJim has done masterful work, enhancing his beautiful art in shades of grey. It truly suits the tone of the story, and also echoes the 1933 film adaptation (which I love), directed by James Whale and starring Claude Rains.

It's a quiet story for the most part. We're trying to set a mood. I hope you will like it!

And Masieri does his usual amazing work lettering the pages. He's sooooo good at what he does!

A MIDSUMMER'S NIGHTMARE
by Tom Reynolds (18 multi-panel pages)

Tom Reynold has done a magnificent riff on A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare.

In Tom's version of the tale, the bard is visited by a hobgoblin whose mistress is not pleased with the way his play has taken shape... and suggests a few changes.

This is amazing work by Tom, in that he truly evokes Shakespeare's work... eloquent and clever... while also retaining a Tom Reynolds' sensibility. I'm not sure how he did it, how he pulled it off, but this is one impressive piece of work!

HOSPITALITÉ
by AlyonaCap (36 single-panel pages)

AlyonaCap riffs on a pivotal moment in Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.

A young knight visits the tavern owned by the Thénardiers. The valiant young man is on a quest, but these unscrupulous innkeepers have a different fate in mind for our hero.

AlyonaCap is focusing on a small segment of the massive novel, but they do it very well, putting a TG spin on a legendary character. It's a small tale that will tug at your heartstrings.

I hope this sounds like an enjoyable lineup to you. It's fun to serve up comics by different artists on a single theme, that's for sure.

As with the original TGC Presents!, this 2025 edition is a collection of comics by a diverse group of creators made specifically to support Femur and the TGComics.com website. With all the options out there these days, we need sales from projects such as this to keep the website going (and growing).

I think I've gone on long enough. Please support TGC by buying TGC Presents! 2025 — Riffs on Classic Lit if you possibly can.
