Heart Guardians 13-16

Heart Guardians is our second Premium comic by Atomics. This is Episode 2 from the files of Dr. Robin Harper and the second comic set in this vast, captivating universe that Atomics has carefully constructed.

Each comic in the series will stand on its own, so you don’t need to have read Idealized (the first comic in the series) to enjoy Heart Guardians, but why wouldn’t you?

Heart Guardians are stewards of the human world, ensuring that wild creatures and nightmares created from an overabundance of magic don’t interfere with the lives of everyday, un-sighted humans. The Guardians remain human, but they are given powers when they become stewards… along with a new body. These new bodies are temporary, the body a person occupies while they are in guardian form. They can revert back to their own bodies whenever they desire.

In other words, Heart Guardians is a story with magic, but it’s also something of a superhero comic. The Guardians are trying to keep the world in balance against immense odds.

As you know if you’ve read the previous installments, the main focus of this comic has been Scott. He’s become a Heart Guardian, and the body he occupies when in guardian form is female. But the diabolical Shadow Man has turned things on their head, upending Scott’s life by cursing Scott and turning him permanently female… erasing his life as a man from the memories of everyone who has ever known him.

Scott is now Scarlett, and life as a woman is appealing in many ways (threesome, anyone?), but Scarlett still wants her original life back. Perhaps there is a way… but it will come at a price. An extremely high price.

Scarlett is in a lesbian relationship with Cassie (another Heart Guardian), and they have grown very close, close enough for Cassie’s parents to visit… which causes its own set of complications. It’s hard to cover up the fact that you haven’t always been female from your in-laws, and even harder to hide the fact that you’re a person with powers.

And when Scarlett goes to Lady Anna, the dragon who may change her back into Scott, things get super-complicated. I don’t want to give everything away in this summary. What I want to emphasize is how deep and powerful Scott’s journey into femininity becomes. Scarlett is going to feel some desires, and do some things she never imagined herself doing before we’re through.

We’ll see what kind of person she is before we’re through, what kind of heart she has… and doesn’t that pretty appropriate for a comic called Heart Guardians?

As a reminder, Scott’s origin story is a flashback… one that’s been told since the start of Part 4 of this comic, a roughly 2,000 page flashback. Phew!

But all good things come to an end, so Scott’s origin story concludes and we continue with our present-day storyine in Part 16. We even get to spend a wee bit of time with Robin and Evan/Evelynn. Remember them?
