Heart Guardians 01-04
A downloadable comic
Heart Guardians is our second Premium comic by Atomics. This is Episode 2 from the files of Dr. Robin Harper and the second comic set in the vast, phenomenal universe that Atomics is carefully constructing.
Each comic in the series will stand on its own, so you don’t need to have read Idealized (the first comic in the series) to enjoy Heart Guardians, but it can’t hurt!
Because Heart Guardians will probably be the longest comic we’ve ever published on TGC (I think it’s safe to say that it will be over 3,000 pages), we didn’t want people to have to wait YEARS before they could read the comic. So Atomics and I decided to release the comic in installments. We’re posting Parts 1-4 for a start, and we’ll keep on posting chunks on a regular basis until we’ve published the entire comic.
If you’ve read Idealized, you know that it is the story of four friends who get their hands on some magic berries that can transform them into a girl for one evening… their ideal girl. The comic was the gateway to get us acquainted to the world where Rob (now Robin), Evan (sometimes Evelynn), Dave and Toby live. It’s a place where magic is real, but secret. Normal “unsighted” humans are oblivious to the magic around them… and even if they see it they can’t retain the information for long. They will forget that magic exists unless they are repeatedly exposed to magical acts.
The title of this second comic in the series is Heart Guardians. The guardians are stewards of the human world, ensuring that wild creatures and nightmares created from an overabundance of magic don’t interfere with everyday un-sighted humans. The guardians remain human, but they are given powers when they become stewards… along with a new body. These new bodies are temporary, the body a person occupies while they are in guardian form. They can revert back to their own body whenever they desire.
In other words, Heart Guardians has magic, but it’s also something of a superhero comic. The guardians are trying to keep the world in balance against immense odds.
The comic starts out with a flashback. Part 1 takes place six years before the events of Idealized… a traumatic event that greatly altered the guardians.
It seems that not everyone in the magical world is not a fan of heart guardians. Someone named the Shadow Man seems to have it out for them.
This comic will focus on Robin Harper and her exploration of becoming a woman, becoming a doctor, and becoming a magical being. But it will also focus on many other characters. One major figure in the comic is a man named Scott. He becomes a heart guardian, and the body he occupies when in guardian form is female.
Much of the comic involves Scott’s exploration of life as a woman. He’s not permanently stuck in that form, but he will be a gorgeous babe any time he wants to use his powers. And also, it seems, sometimes when he’s not. Learning to control these transformations and deal with his burgeoning femininity is a large part of the story.
Scott doesn’t mind being a beautiful woman, especially when it comes with powers. Scott doesn’t necessarily want to be female on a permanent basis, but he doesn’t mind learning more and more about what it’s like to be a fetching female.
As in Idealized, there is more than one person exploring their feminine side… and Atomics juggles the various story lines superbly.
There’s a lot going on in this comic. We’re learning more about the magical world where various factions have different interests, what it means to be a hero, what it means to be a woman, and many other twists and turns. Atomics handles a world of magic, time travel, and heroic battles in splendid fashion. If you’ve read Idealized, you know that you will care about the characters Atomics creates. Scott is definitely one of those characters. I can’t wait for you to read his amazing journey!
